Walk is an experimental documentary that portrays the sounds of New York City mixed with jarring images through the lens of a street photographer. Photographs cover 7 miles on the journey from Brooklyn to Midtown Manhattan. Amassing over 2600 photographs on the trek and focusing on subjects as they come into view creates a disorienting look at the city. Walk is an observational piece about a city, its people, and the overstimulation that it can all bring.
While I was in Buenos Aires I wanted to have some sort of video based observational work capturing the city with the intention of collaging these recordings together. I decided to call them video paintings because they felt relative to the grid-like paintings I was making at the same time. All the video was shot through my phone and thrown through some shitty phone apps to apply sik effects before I collaged them in final cut.
Turbulence is a totally psychotic short experimental film dealing with my anxiety with airplanes. My anxiety stems from a flight where the pilot accidently yanked the plane to what felt like a 90 degree turn ten minutes into the trip. Videos taken from my first NYC apartment's roof, then distorted through an analog video synthesizer called a psychenizer. During the live feed filming I would rotate the video camera to 90 degree turns to mimic the movement I felt, and to vissually display the planes making absurd angles and dives. I made all the noise in the video as well.
